CMDB Data model design significantly impacts the long-term success of any CMDB project. Design the right model, and deploying, populating and maintaining your CMDB becomes significantly easier. Design the wrong model and the project is doomed before it begins.
With the FireScope CMDB Modeler, you have the freedom to test out multiple data models, populate these models with a sample set of Configuration Items, and explore how the model fits the unique needs of your team or organization. If a particular model doesn’t work, either modify it on the fly or start from scratch until you have determined the best approach. Once complete, simply export the model into XML and import into the full version of FireScope CMDB.
The FireScope CMDB Modeler does not require programming knowledge to design, extended or change Configuration Item Types and to adapt the underlying structure. This allows you to react quickly and efficiently to new requirements without the need to engage expensive database programmers or administration specialists.
* Windows Vista users will need to go to control panel, Programs and Features, and click on 'Turn windows features on or off'. Make sure that World Wide Web Services is selected, as well as IIS 6 Management Compatibility (including sub-features). As soon as this is completed, you can proceed with the FireScope CMDB:BE setup.
Note - FireScope CMDB Modeler is intended for use as an application for engineers to model current and future CMDB deployments, and as such should not be installed on a production server.
